Ralph Minott took up Taekwondo in 1978 as something to do while studying quantity surveying at Trent, Nottingham, passing black belt in World Taekwondo in 1981. Ralph started teaching TAGB taekwondo to inner-city kids in St Anns back in 1984, when few schools taught children classes, inspiring aspiration and discipline through hundreds of student Taekwondo journeys. Ralph only tried competition sparring at black belt, but was England Bantam Weight Champion by 1982, and 1985 became an England World Taekwondo international, going on to represent GB at the 1988 Seoul Olympic Games. A 57kg silver medal at the 1988 World Open Championships ITF Style gained Ralph TAGB England Team selection, finally retiring from competition in 1994 after numerous worldwide championships, including World Team Champions 1991. In 2020 Ralph was promoted to 8th Degree World Master, an achievements he channels students to be the best one can be. As coach of multiple champions, and tournament referee, Ralph is respected worldwide, and remains one of only two England internationals to have competed across World Taekwondo and International Taekwondo combat forms. The heart of Nottingham TAGB remains nevertheless Ralph’s belief in guiding student values and goals through the highest standards in their Taekwondo training.
